Terrametrix, LLC is a professional survey technology based firm with experience that focuses on the safe efficient data collection of roadways, railroads, airports, coastal and streetscapes to support architects, engineers and surveyors.  Experienced in accurate positional data documentation, the Terrametrix survey professionals are actively involved in the documentation and consulting of projects utilizing 3d laser scanners and software since 2000. Team experience in architectural, transportation and construction projects showed the need for more efficient documentation provided by the mobile mapping versatility as another tool in the toolbox.

Michael Frecks, President/CEO, has thirty years of survey experience in the civil site topographic field along with nine years in the LiDAR industry as both an innovator and as a consultant/advisor for 3D laser scanning software development. Data collection experience and expertise is extensive in the transportation and architectural disciplines. As a professional Land Surveyor since 1992, Michael’s approach to data documentation combining GPS, 3D laser scanners and INS, makes his approach more accurate, safer, faster, and cost efficient. His vast knowledge of scanner specifications; identifying software and hardware capabilities, how they interact with each other; beta testing of equipment and software; and his demand of high accuracy standards has advanced the evolution of acquiring as-built data documentation through 3D laser scanners.

TERRAMETRIX PHILOSOPHY

Freeway construction work zones create added dangers for both traffic and work activity. Work zones not only lead to traffic conditions that violate motorists’ expectations but also expose surveyors hazardously close to the fast moving vehicles.
Such work zone situations are challenging one of the main objectives of the traffic management system which is to provide safe and efficient movement of traffic .While traffic engineers look for ways to decrease traffic incidents they also search for methods to increase efficiency in the schedule. A way to accelerate the schedule and construction is to accelerate the documentation of the data used for planning. Laser scanning was designed especially for capturing dimensionally accurate point data sets of complex details as well as overall layout and dimensions.
